Buying Used Cars Equals Great Value & Cheaper Insurance  Feb 21st, 2013

If you're interested in receiving some "shock-factor" news on why any sane person with a dab of common sense should consider the purchase of a used car or truck is that dreaded word: depreciation. Yes folks, it's that "dark cloud" that drifts over the head of a new vehicle buyer that hardly ever gets mentioned in the "let me sell you a new car," conversation.

Actually, some sales people are known to excuse themselves for a coffee break, if a buyer brings up the "depreciation" subject. In any case the fact remains that when you buy a new car off the showroom floor and before you have time to hit the first stop light or freeway onramp, up to 15 percent of your new vehicle purchase value has just floated out of your open window into the unknown.

That's an "ouch, that hurts;" but you can avoid it when you buy used cars and trucks. And you'll be able to laugh up your sleeve, knowing that the previous owner has already absorbed the steepest portion of the used carís depreciation cost. Using this ploy, you can consider that Christmas came early for you and your family.

Typically when a person buys used cars from a reputable local dealer they have been carefully maintained in all respects. Not many used cars and trucks dealers are willing to put their business and reputation on the line just for the sake of a quick buck or two. In small communities that can be the "dagger-through-the-heart."

Used cars also offer the opportunity for less expensive vehicle insurance, too. So you should know that when you buy used cars that are 10 years or older, you can eschew the cost of the two most expensive items on you insurance policy: collision and comprehensive coverage, which can save you a lot of cash over time.

Usually the value of used cars of that age will not warrant paying this expense, although you should increase your liability coverage by 10 percent just in case. A used car presents a tremendous value; it's also a smart move. Maybe it's time to put a smile back on your face and buy used cars. Savings on DMV license fees, vehicle insurance are just two of the reasons used cars make sense.

Getting a car loan with bad credit.  Feb 21st, 2013

It is not impossible to receive a loan for a new or used car with bad credit. There are many factors that determine the risk involved. Bad credit car loans are decided based on the risk. This is what the bank is determining, what are the odds that the customer will repay the loan, that is it. If it is decided that the customer is willing and able to make the payment, the bank is eager to close the transaction.

Time on the job, employment and residency, all play a determining factor when bad credit is involved in a car loan. How much debt the customer holds compared to the income they receive. These factors help determine how much risk is involved for the bank with a bad credit car loans.

If a pre-owned car is desired, the value of the used car is very important. The customer must only be asking for 50-75% of the value of used cars if they are going to get an approval. Less may be needed for a new car, especially if the manufacturer is providing the financing. The reason for this is that if the customer does not pay, the bank takes back the car. The car must then be transported and sold at auction. With the bank only having an unpaid debt on the vehicle of about half to three quarters of the value, the bank is more likely to recoup their loss.

There are a few things that could put the customer in the right percentage range.

The dealerís price is well below the actual value of used cars. By doing extensive shopping, there may be a vehicle that a dealer is highly motivated to sell, or they took it in trade and it did not cost them much.

The customer has a trade-in that has a substantial value. The customer should also have possession of the title to the vehicle.

Cash down. Cash is king, or so the dealers say.

If there is a steady employment, then a few years at the same address and a good income, that will help things immensely. With a small percentage of that income satisfying current obligations. The value of used cars that is being applied for is much higher than the amount financed. Most likely, the customer would receive the car loan requested, even if it is a bad credit car loans.
